THE MUSIC LESSONS EXPERIENCE

These are not your mother’s music lessons

Alexandra

Meet
the FOUNDER

My name is Alexandra Barrete-Tsaur, founder of Ms. Alex’s music studio.

I started my musical journey at the age of 3 years old, learning to play the piano and sing.

Music quickly became an integral part of my life and I really wouldn’t have it any other way. Being a part of choirs, drumlines, musicals, bands and learning many more instruments were all such valuable and joyful experiences that enhanced my life in so many aspects. And I will always keep those memories close to my heart.

At the age of 21, I found out that I had salivary adenocarcinoma and would need to undergo a major procedure which would result in the loss of nerves in my hand and damage to voice. In short, I suddenly had lost the thing I loved most - music.

But as you would’ve guessed, my story doesn’t end there. I miraculously recovered unscathed and my surgeon is still shocked to this day. Though I had completed my Honours Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Toronto - St. George Campus, I took this as a sign and decided to take a full 180 turn and pursue what I love.

If you’ve met me, then you know - I’m just a kid at heart who loves to joke around, be silly and most of all - make music with all my heart and soul. Music has been there for me through all the ups and downs in my life and I discovered my passion for teaching while showing young cancer patients a thing or two about piano in the lounge during my recovery.

I want to be able to help others discover their love and passion for music just as I have, while developing their skills and broadening their horizons. I truly believe in “The sky’s the limit”, and with some hard work, dedication, discipline, and passion - anything is possible.
If you see me around the academy, make sure to say hi. :)
